Steven Boyd Bailey
December 4, 1957 – February 11, 2026
Steve was born in Raleigh, NC to the late Buckner Boyd Bailey and Patricia Honeycutt Bailey on December 4, 1957. He was the miracle baby that survived a major surgery when he was 1 week old. He graduated from Millbrook High school in 1976 and attended then Wake Technology College for Mechanical Drafting and Civil Engineering and HVAC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Jonathan Plott.
Steve is survived by three sisters, Wanda Clark of Garner, NC, Barbara Bailey of Charlotte, NC, and Beth Creamer of Croom, MD, two brothers-in-law, Paul Clark of Garner, NC and Tony Creamer of Croom, MD, three nieces, Dana Plott (Travis) of Charlotte, NC, Leanne Kendig (Sean) of Bowie, MD, and Lauren Creamer (Karema) of Baltimore, and two nephews, David Clark (Bobbi) of Garner and Robert Creamer (Judith) of Croom , MD, two great-nieces (Bronwyn, Edith), three great-nephews (Trey, Sean Jr., Seamus) and many relatives in the Bailey and Honeycutt families.
Steve had many friends, a great sense of humor and a love of animals and the outdoors. He lived most of his life between Raleigh and Charlotte, NC, first working in heating and plumbing then moved into property maintenance at apartment complexes then started his own Mr. Fix It handyman business. He worked for Macy’s department stores before moving to Maryland. He has lived in Maryland since 2012. He spent a few years at his sister’s farm in Maryland then moved in with friends in Riverdale, MD.
His health issues started with cancer and the side effects of the chemo and radiation.
He has many friends in NC and Maryland and his long time girlfriend Virginia Espinoza Sotelo and her daughter Victoria visited Steve many times at the various medical facilities this last year. Before his carotid artery issue in March 2025, Steve was walking 3 miles a day at his neighborhood park and had lost a lot of weight.
Steve will be dearly missed by his friends and family. A celebration of life for Steve will be held April 25 at Beth’s farm. Please contact Beth for details 240-381-4756.
