Stacie Taylor Obituary

Stacie Beth Taylor

Beloved Wife, Immensely Proud Mother and Grandmother, Renowned Scientific Engineer, Eclectic Artist, and Incredible Trailblazer

Stacie Beth Taylor passed peacefully on 3 April 2025 in Washington, DC ensconced by the love of her family. Stacie leaves an incredible legacy of vibrant memories, boundless creativity, and countless contributions to the preservation of our nation’s freedoms and security. Highly respected and deeply admired by all whose lives she touched, Stacie packed the maximum into her life well-lived.

Born January 2, 1960 in Washington, DC  to Roy Louis Taylor Sr. and Ruth Edwards Taylor, Stacie adored her family and is lovingly survived by her husband, Claude Stark; her sons, Zachary Grout and Ryder Grout; her cherished grandchildren—Madelyn, Emily, and Thomas Grout—who were true lights of her life; her beloved brothers Louis and Ray Taylor, and her dear nieces Ashley and Cameron.

Stacie was born with a fierce sense of curiosity,  purpose and integrity that would propel her through a life filled with service, science, art, and exploration.

A dedicated scholar, Stacie earned her B.A. in Mathematics from the College of Natural Science at the University of South Florida. She later continued her pursuit of knowledge through professional training at the Defense Acquisition University and the Joint Special Operations University in Interagency Collaboration.

Professionally, Stacie was a force of intellect and innovation. A multi-disciplined engineer and scientist her first job out of college was with Boeing on the Space Shuttle Program as an engineer in the vehicle assembly building at Cape Kennedy. She then devoted 17 years to the U.S. Army National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) as a Scientific & Technical Intelligence Collections Manager and Physical Scientist. Her career continued with 15 impactful years at MITRE Corporation as a Senior Systems Engineer, contributing to NATO operations, supporting DIA-BICES in Brussels, and serving with distinction at the Pentagon.

Stacie’s creative genius and adaptability stretched effortlessly from the scientific arena to the avant-garde artistic realm. She was an esteemed member of Baltimore’s renowned Fluid Movement Water Ballet Troupe where she graced the waters in many productions culminating in their 20th anniversary show Fluid Movement: The Water Ballet – Annabel Lee. With humor, grace, and sequins, she brought joy to many audiences and shone brightly amongst her fellow mermaids.

Stacie’s life was one of contrast and harmony—military precision and expressive movement, logic and laughter, intellect and warmth. She will be missed deeply, remembered always, and celebrated forever.

A celebration of Stacie’s Space will be held in the afternoon on May 17th. TBA

Your love and best wishes for Stacie, as she embarks on her continuing journey, are much valued and appreciated.
