Ontario J. Thornton (O.J., also known as “Juice”) was born on November 14, 1976, in Washington, D.C., to Sharon Armwood and Harold Thornton.
Ontario was welcomed into eternal rest by those who preceded him in passing: his great-grandparents, Wiley and Evelyn Armwood; his grandmother, Shirley Armwood; his brother, Phillip Marshall; his uncles, Wiley Armwood, Larry Armwood, William Armwood, Ashe Armwood, and Foster Armwood; and his aunts, Francis Carter and Patricia Armwood.
Ontario grew up in what many proudly call “Chocolate City,” Washington, D.C. He attended D.C. Public Schools and later Prince George’s County Public Schools. In the early 2000s, he continued working toward his goals by earning his GED and obtaining certification in HVAC. He was known for his love of football and was a die-hard Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders) fan, proudly supporting his home team.
O.J. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Sharon Hatcher and stepfather Philip Hatcher.
He is also survived by his four brothers, Carl Payton (Tanya), Michael Hatcher (Sarah), Harold Thornton Jr. and Derrick Hymes; and three sisters, Dwann Thornton, Ashley Marshall, and Wanda Thornton.
Ontario shared a very special bond with his sister-cousin, Anthelina Armwood.
He will be lovingly remembered by his seven nieces and nephews: Tiara, Carl Jr. (C.J.), Carmello, Taniya, Payton, Paris, and Messiah, who brought joy and pride to his life.
Ontario also leaves behind his two great-aunts, Hepsie Armwood and Bernetha Armwood-Jones (Rufus); and two great-uncles, Almond Armwood and Theodore Armwood, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though Ontario has departed from this earthly life, his spirit, love, and memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
2 Timothy 4:7
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
1. John 14:1–3
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.
