Melinda Smith, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in October 2025.

Melinda was a tough cookie with a soft spot for animals — especially cats. She had a way of caring for the strays and forgotten ones, always offering love and a safe place when no one else would.

Life didn’t deal her the fairest hand, but she met every challenge with resilience and stubborn strength. Those who knew her will remember her sharp wit, her independence, and her unwavering compassion for animals.

She is survived by her children, Rachel Balderson, Michael Dimmick, and Darren Kinnamon, and by her sister, Laura Smith. Melinda is preceded in death by her brother, Ian Smith, and her mother, Evelyn Smith.

We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Ian and Evelyn, and that she’s finally at peace.

A private cremation will be held, and the family will honor her memory in their own time. Contributions toward her cremation expenses or donations to a local animal rescue in her honor are deeply appreciated.
