Karolyn Williams Obituary

Karolyn Renee Williams, a loving and devoted mother, cherished family member, and friend to all who were blessed to know her, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. She was born on November 29, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Roy Pratt and Katherine Dalton. From the moment she entered this world, Karolyn carried a warmth, strength, and compassion that would come to define her life and touch countless hearts.

Karolyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her dear brothers, James Dalton, and Reginald Dalton, Art Pratt, Mike Pratt, and Brian Pratt. Though she endured profound loss throughout her life, she met every hardship with courage, grace, and an unbreakable spirit that inspired all who knew her.

For many years, Karolyn dedicated herself to her work as a cosmetologist at Dalton’s Beauty Salon in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Her work was far more than a profession—it was her calling. Karolyn possessed a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to make people feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Her chair was a place of laughter, comfort, encouragement, and friendship, where stories were shared and lifelong bonds were formed. She didn’t just style hair—she uplifted spirits and nurtured souls.

Above all else, Karolyn was a fighter. She bravely survived breast cancer years ago, facing that battle head-on with remarkable strength and determination. More recently, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and moved in with her daughters and son-in-law, where she was surrounded by unwavering love, care, and devotion. Though her time was far too short, Karolyn never lost her fighting spirit. Even in her final weeks, she showed extraordinary resilience, courage, and an enduring will to keep going, leaving a powerful example of strength for those around her.

Karolyn found deep joy in life’s simplest and sweetest moments. She cherished the companionship of her beloved cat, Midnight, who brought her comfort and peace, and her adored grand-dog, Brooklyn, who never failed to bring a smile to her face and, in the end, never left her side. Her love for animals reflected her love for people—gentle, loyal, and unconditional.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: daughter Karena Broadus and her husband Mark; daughters Rosalyn Pratt and Barbara Lee; and son Eugene Hutchison. She is also survived by her brothers Kenny and Daryl Pratt, along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Karolyn will be remembered as a woman of extraordinary strength, boundless love, and quiet resilience. She was a mother who gave selflessly, a friend who loved fiercely, and a soul whose presence brought light, comfort, and reassurance to everyone around her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through the lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the family she cherished beyond measure. Her memory will remain a guiding light and a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
