Hinde Levy

Hinde Levy, or Pesha as she was lovingly referred to by her family, was a native of Connecticut who was loved by her community. Wherever she resided, she built a circle of family and friends rich in love, off-key singing, and laughter.

Hinde attended law school in Oregon and later came to Maryland and Washington, D.C., where she dedicated her career to advocating for children through the Department of Children and Families. During that time, she had the opportunity to adopt her daughter, Jeree, at just a few days old — an event that changed her life forever, and for the better.

She had a wonderful sense of humor. If you had heard a dad joke, she had one ten times better — or so she thought, and most of the time she was right. Hinde shared her love of Yanni, Cher, and Susan Boyle with her loved ones, creating the soundtrack for some of the best car rides imaginable.

She gave the warmest hugs, had the silliest quirks, and a laugh that came from deep within and lingered long after she stopped. She brought joy to everyone she met and could carry a conversation for days.

Hinde is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Samy, whom she loved deeply; her cherished daughter, Jeree, whom she often said she loved “more than the moon, the stars, and the sun in the sky”; and her surrogate son, Cordell, whom she also adored. She is also survived by her extended family in Connecticut, Florida, and California.
