With deep sadness we announce the death of Barbara Cartwright of Columbia, MD on June 12,2026. 

Barbara was born in Harlem, NY. She grew up in Westchester County, NY, graduating from Tuckahoe High School and was raised in Shiloh Baptist Church Tuckahoe, NY. She was an avid bowler and part of several leagues over the years in NY.  Barbara enjoyed a long and successful career with IBM, retiring to Columbia, MD in 1999 to be closer to her grandchildren. 

Her attention to detail whether decorating her home, keeping up with appointments, birthdays and important dates was truly unmatched. 

Barbara was the mother of Denise (Dave) Luther and Deborah (Clifton) Porter. She was the proud grandmother of Chanel (Sam) Floyd, Christian Porter and Clifton Porter. 

Barbara is at peace and will be greatly missed. 

We will honor Mommy's wishes and celebrate her life privately, together as a family.
